Rare Breed Pigs
Traditional Breed Pigs are those that have been identified by the British Pig Association as being at risk of extinction - that is to say that there are fewer than 500 sows in existance.

Our aim is to help to protect traditional breeds and ensure their survival. The 'litter notification' of pedigree pigs ensures that pedigree status is maintained.

It is our hope that, via this website, people in France will be encouraged to source traditional breed pigs and aid the continuation of these magnificent animals.

A selection of Rare & Traditional Breed Pigs
Saddleback The Saddleback
The British Saddleback resulted from the crossing of the Essex and Wessex Pig.

A striking animal, with the very distinctive band of white of its upper body, and all-black torso and rear legs. Its weather-hardiness makes it an excellent choice for those seeking to rear their pigs outdoors. It is also noted for its mothering abilities, being a good milker and a producer of large litters.

Tamworth The Tamworth
The Tamworth is one of the longest-snouted pigs, with large pricked up ears. Its body is long and lean, thus making them a popular choice for bacon.

Also known as the 'Ginger Pig', the Tamworth varies in colour from Chestnut to Deep Russet. A hardy animal, active and a good forager, they are ideal for free range and keeping outdoors.

The Gloucester Old Spot The Gloucester Old Spot
The oldest 'spotted' pedigree pig in the world.

One of the large breeds, white in colour with one or more distinctive black spots. It has forward pointing lop ears. This gentle-natured pig has a placid disposition. Its love of grazing and windfall fruits have led to its nickname 'The Orchard Pig'.

Large Black The Large Black
This dark-skinned pig is a good choice for cold and warm climates. It has a long, deep body and heavy, drooped ears.

Despite its size the Large Black is docile in nature.

Large Black Sows are renowned for their good mothering qualities, whilst their piglets have the advantage of boasting a higher daily weight gain than any other breed.

British Lop The British Lop
The Bitish Lop is the rarest of the old breeds. It is one of the larger breeds, all white with large lop ears. It is long-bodied and deep-sided - ideal for pork & bacon. It is extremely hardy and can be kept outdoors all year round.
